With over 15 years experience calibrating and maintaining video monitors in the post-production industry, D65 Video is now offering ISF certified calibration service in the Hollywood area for your home theater system. When your home theater has been calibrated to the same standards as the monitors on which the producers made their creative decisions, you will be seeing movies and television programs as they were intended to be seen. If you care enough about the viewing experience to purchase and set up a high quality home theater system, doesn't it make sense to have the system professionally calibrated to ensure you're seeing everything you paid for?

Should I schedule an appointment for a calibration as soon as I get my set home?

You could have a full calibration done when the set is new, but it's better to let it "burn in" for 50-100 hours or so before paying for a calibration. There are two reasons for this. The first is that because of initial aging, the brightness and color may drift slightly during the first few hours of use. The second is that if you discover a problem with the set while it's still new, the manufacturer or dealer might choose to replace it under warranty, and there goes your calibration - literally out the door. However, you shouldn't just turn on your new set and leave it with the factory settings because the high brightness will shorten the life of your set. The first thing you should do when you set up your new TV is to turn down the contrast to a safe level using an inexpensive DVD such as the ISF HDTV Calibration Wizard, or one of the Avia or Video Essentials discs.
